What is EsthervilleCAN?

EsthervilleCAN is a network of stakeholders and service providers dedicated to helping residents gain postsecondary education and training in order to grow our economy and community. This collaboration is called the Estherville Career Access Network (EsthervilleCAN).

The 21st Century global economy demands a workforce with an education beyond high school. In order to meet the demands of an evolving workforce, EsthervilleCAN’s vision is that all students will pursue and complete postsecondary education supporting and maintaining a long term career, thriving local economy, and vibrant community.

By 2025, the efforts of EsthervilleCAN will increase the number of working age residents (18-65) in the Estherville community with postsecondary degrees or valuable credentials by 8%.

About Estherville CAN

Iowa has already succeeded at having the highest graduation rate in the country. The next step is making sure those graduates have careers. Not just jobs, but meaningful careers that grow the economy, add to our communities, and support their families. The mission of our initiative, EsthervilleCAN, is to make sure students have the additional training and education they need to get those careers, whether it is vocational, two year, or four year programs. We are working to make sure students are ready for these programs and have access to them.

EsthervilleCAN is partnering with the schools and programs that already exist. We believe Estherville has done a great job of offering resources to our students but needs extra help getting families aware of these resources and involved.

We will help these programs gain the support they need to offer comprehensive programming and increase participation.

Our long term goal, is to strengthen and grow the Estherville community through a high quality workforce that meets the needs of our economy.
